Embracing diversity in ASIA through the adoption of Inclusive Open Practices (DIVERSASIA) Project

Students with disabilities have limited access to HE (Higher Education) in India and Bangladesh. This project aims to tackle this issue by making accessible HE OERs (Open Education Resources) and MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), and personalization using AI (Artificial Intelligence), that will enable better provision of open distance learning for those that experience architectural barriers.

 DIVERSASIA will build capacity of 2 HEIs (Higher Education Institutions) in India and 2 HEIs in Bangladesh to integrate these students that have disabilities, using know-how and an inclusive education toolkit developed by experienced inclusive education experts from United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Belgium, Latvia, Turkey (Gazi University), Serbia, Bangladesh and India.

Aims of Project

To ensure students with disabilities can enjoy the same access to Higher Education (HE) as their peers and enjoy access to digital training materials (OERs _ Open Educational Resources and MOOCs – Massive Open Online Courses).

Objectives of Project

Build capabilities and resources of Indian and Bangladeshi Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to include a diversity of students, especially those with learning disabilities. Provide inclusive education training and tools to HEI staff, including guidelines, checklists and leading edge practices by following Universal Design of Learning (UDL) guidelines and principles. Provide a Validation Guidelines Toolkit that assesses the current level of accessibility of OERs and MOOCs in India and Bangladesh. Ensure awareness and uptake of accessible OERs and MOOCs by HEIs in partner country networks.
